The Fruit of Spirituality

Question

Can spirituality and sinfulness coexist in one person or not? If they can coexist, then how?

Answer

By spirituality is presumably meant that a person has purified his self (undergone tazkiya), and the spirit (ruh) has gained mastery over the desires of the body; in such a state a person avoids sin a great deal, yet he still does not become infallible (ma‘sum).
