Reliability of radio news about Ramadan and Eid

Question

Is radio news regarding Eid or Ramadan to be relied upon or not? If it is, then in what form?

Answer

If on the 29th of Sha‘ban the horizon is not clear and the moon is not seen, and news of the moon comes from several radios, from which a preponderant opinion (ghalabat al-zann) arises, then that alone is sufficient for establishing Ramadan. But for establishing Eid testimony is necessary.
