How is the sighting established where the horizon is always overcast?
Question
Where the sky is always overcast and the moon is not seen, and the sun is seen only in particular months of the year — will the inhabitants fast according to the hadith: [ar]لَا تَصُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ، وَلَا تُفْطِرُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْهُ[/ar] “Do not fast until you see it, and do not break the fast until you see it”?
Answer
The months can be determined by the almanac and by enquiring from nearby places where the moon is seen.
