Praying in shoes

Question

Is there a ruling that one may pray wearing shoes, or not? If not, which imam are those people following who pray wearing shoes?

Answer

Praying in shoes has been transmitted from the noble Prophet ﷺ and from the noble Companions ﵃ as well. However, our mosques are now no longer in the state they were in at that time, and so the jurists have now written that entering the mosque wearing shoes is makruh. So it is in “‘Alamgiri”.
