Praying behind a salaried imam
Question
Zayd is a member of the community; he is capable of leading the prayer, but out of necessity he lives on money from the obligatory charities (sadaqat wajiba). What is the ruling on praying behind him in such a situation?
Answer
If he does not take these things as a recompense for the imamate, then his imamate is valid. Taking or giving the fitra or the price of sacrificial hides as a recompense for the imamate or for any other work is impermissible.
