The ruling on leading the prayer when the kurta is above the knees

Question

Is it permissible to lead the prayer wearing a kurta (a loose shirt) above the knees or not?

Answer

If a kurta does not reach the knees but is somewhat shorter, prayer and imamate in it are still valid, although the better course (a‘la) is for the kurta to be longer than that.
