The imamate of a man whose wife is a teacher
Question
One of the imams of our mosque is a teacher at a madrasa, and his wife is likewise a teacher at a girls’ madrasa (madrasat al-banat). Some people pronounce his imamate to be disliked (karaha) and impermissible, because his wife is a teacher. What is the ruling on the prayer behind such an imam?
Answer
If the imam and his wife teach while observing the rulings of the Shari‘a, no harm will come to his imamate on account of this. Without doubt, the prayer behind him will be valid.
