Solving puzzles with an entry fee

Question

Question: In most of the English and Gujarati newspapers here the promotion of puzzle-solving is read about every other day. You, respected Hazrat, will know the details of puzzle-solving: a coupon is filled in with certain words and sent to the office together with an entry fee. The solution of this puzzle is either kept secured beforehand or secured afterwards through appointed members.

Answer

This is qimar. The amount that is collected under the name of entry fees is far greater than the amount of the prizes. The fee-payer obtains a large prize in exchange for a small fee, provided his luck is good, while the prize-giver has to give small prizes in exchange for large sums; there is no burden on him — this itself is a standalone business.
