The Hadith of Multiple Adams: Not Authentic

Question

Question: I have seen with my own eyes, in several historical works — I do not now recall which work. I have pondered it a great deal, but my memory fails me. In it, the following hadith was recorded: [ar]عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى خَلَقَ مِائَةَ أَلْفِ آدَمَ[/ar] “From Ibn ‘Abbas ﵄: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: ‘Indeed, Allah Almighty created one hundred thousand Adams.

Answer

This hadith is not found in the sound (sihah) collections.
