The Nikah of an Adult Girl Without Her Permission

Question

An adult girl is married off without her own consent and that of her mother; that is, only the mother (?), for the sake of her son, gives this above-mentioned girl in an exchange marriage and marries off her son, that is, contracts his nikah; and this boy is the stepbrother of the said mother’s two sons and her stepson; only the father is responsible for the nikah, and the girl and the girl’s mother were not asked at all at the time of the nikah, to the extent that the girl and the girl’s mother had no knowledge…

Answer

If the girl, on being informed of the nikah contracted by her father, did not reject it but accepted it or remained silent, and on learning of the mahr also did not reject it but kept quiet, and when going to her in-laws’ home also did not express displeasure with the nikah, then according to the Shari‘a that nikah became binding (lazim) and effective (nafidh)
