Mutual Hostility Out of Spite, Proportion in the Spouses’ Ages, and Objecting to an Act of the Messenger ﷺ: The Ruling
Question
Nowadays some Muslims, owing to their ignorance and lack of understanding, with mutual grievances and enmities in view, file false petitions in courts and police stations in the marriages of young men and women in order to cause loss and harm to one another, and get the marriages stopped; they cast the commands of God and the Messenger entirely behind their backs. In this way they cause people to be wrongfully ruined and get their own ends fulfilled, and by making the permissible impermissible they become sinners.
Answer
Keeping up quarrels among themselves and harming one another by filing false petitions is impermissible according to the Shari‘a and a sin. In the noble hadith a severe prohibition of such things has come. Finding fault with any act of the Prophet ﷺ and belittling it is kufr; through such a thing faith (iman) is lost.
