The pieces of the shroud and the method of shrouding
Question
Yesterday a deceased person was shrouded in this manner: first a long sheet was put on him, then on top of it the izar, i.e. the waist-wrap, was placed; first the waist-wrap was wrapped from the armpits down to the feet, over it the kafan was put on, then the sheet was wrapped around and tied. Is shrouding in this manner correct or wrong, or was a sin committed?
Answer
First the lifafa is spread out, then the izar is spread on it, and then on top of that a sleeveless shirt. Having put the deceased into the shirt, the izar is wrapped from the left side, then from the right. After this the lifafa is wrapped in the same way and three ties are made: one above the feet (?)
