Imamate of One Who Mispronounces the Qur’an
Question
Zayd is often unable to pronounce the words of the Qur’an clearly. What is the ruling on the imamate of such a person? And what about asking such a person religious questions (masa’il) in the future?
Answer
If the imam is not an ‘alim (a scholar), then this matter should be referred to an ‘alim — let it be written, with explanation, exactly what mistake he makes in the words of the Qur’an, and then the ruling will become known.
