Rulings on hired employment and trade

Question

Question: I am connected with the Tablighi Jamaat. In the Jamaat we are taught that before doing any task one should learn from the ʿulama how the Shariʿa of the honoured Messenger of Allah ﷺ directs it to be done, and only then do it, so that it becomes religion and earns reward (thawab)? (1) So: I am in hired employment. Tell me plainly which rulings, if broken in employment, will make one weep tears of blood on the Day of Resurrection, so that, knowing them, I may guard against breaking them.

Answer

(1) Before taking up employment the intention should be sound: to meet one’s own essential needs and those of one’s dependants through lawful (halal) earnings, so that Allah keeps one safe from theft, usurpation (ghasb), begging and the like; and the aim should be service of the religion and help to the creation.
