Advising a bribe to reduce a levy

Question

Question: This humble one works as a clerk, doing the accounts at several factories. A government inspector is appointed to check the accounts. So the inspector came to the place where this humble one works and assessed arrears of twenty thousand against it, and during the inspection the inspector said: “You work at many factories, yet you have never got us a bribe from anywhere.

Answer

Taking a bribe, giving it and procuring it are all haram. Repent with a sincere heart. The inspector has not yet taken any compensation from you for pointing out openings, but he has certainly seen that you can procure bribes and that, accordingly, wherever he wishes, you will procure a bribe for him. So it is as if he has accepted you as his broker.
