The punishment for killing
Question
Question: If a Muslim kills a Muslim out of enmity and hostility over some worldly matter, and the present government, once the killing has been proven, sentences this killer to death, that is, hanging, will the Shari‘a qisas (retaliation) thereby be discharged from the killer, and will he be spared something of the reckoning in the Hereafter? Or how is it?
Answer
If the killer has received the death penalty and the heirs of the slain person obtained this punishment through the government, then qisas has been carried out, even though according to the Shari‘a in qisas the person is killed, not hanged.
