Seeing one’s father and grandfather in a dream

Question

Question: Many people see their fathers and grandfathers in dreams. What is the nature of this?

Answer

Dreams take various forms, and interpretation (ta‘bir) is mostly connected with intuition (wijdan) and unveiling (kashf). Nevertheless, on such an occasion isal al-thawab (gifting the reward of good deeds to the deceased) should be done. And if the fathers, grandfathers and so on who were seen in the dream are alive, then more attention should be paid to their rights.
