Saving money from an elder brother’s shop
Question
Zayd lives with his elder brother Bakr. The elder brother has a shop, and Zayd also handles a good deal of the shop’s work. The elder brother has given Zayd permission for food and drink, but Zayd spends very little on food and drink and saves some money. What is the ruling on his spending this money himself or spending it on the mosque?
Answer
He should inform his elder brother of it and obtain his permission, and then spend it wherever he wishes — on the mosque and the like.
