Benefiting from a house bought with unlawful wealth
Question
Question: Land that was bought with unlawful wealth — may someone buy it with money from his own pure earnings or not? Or a house that was built or bought with haram — may it be bought in exchange for halal wealth and put to one’s own use or not? Or may such land and such a house be taken on rent or not?
Answer
There are four forms of buying land or a house with unlawful wealth, as was mentioned earlier. If the buyer bought by the first form, then it is not right for another, subsequent buyer to buy it from him with halal wealth; if he bought by the remaining three forms, then it is right for the subsequent buyer to buy it.
