The word “sayyiduna” in the salawat
Question
What is the ruling on reciting the salawat “O Allah, bless our master (sayyidina) Ibrahim”? If someone in the salawat of the prayer recited “our master Ibrahim” and “our master Muhammad”, will the prayer be valid or not? And what is the state of the iman of the person who taught this? And what is the state of the iman of the one who spoke ill of this word “sayyiduna”? Of these two, which one remained a Muslim and which one became a kafir?
Answer
Saying “sayyiduna” in the salawat is mustahabb. Hazrat Ibrahim ﵇ should be mentioned in the salawat, but in such a way that first comes the blessed name of the master of the prophets, Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa ﷺ, and then that of Hazrat Ibrahim ﵇. Despite this, one should not declare anyone a kafir because of such a matter, for that is the very last resort.
