Honouring the guest

Question

Question: What is the definition of a guest in the Shari‘a? If a fasiq and sinner (fajir) is a guest, is there a command to show him respect and honour? And then what is the meaning of abandoning greeting (salam) and conversation with a fasiq and sinner?

Answer

When two capacities are combined in such a guest — the one of being a guest, and the other of being a fasiq — then in his first capacity the right of hospitality should be fulfilled and he should be honoured, and his second capacity should not be taken into account in this honouring.
