The Jamaat-e-Islami in the Light of the Sacred Law

Question

What is the nature of the Mawdudi Jamaat, which was launched by Abul A‘la Mawdudi? Kindly do us a religious favour and give a prompt answer to this in the light of the pure Sacred Law — with the ruling of the Holy Qur’an, explained and substantiated from hadith and fiqh. Are those who accept and follow this creed or jamaat correct Muslims at all, or not? We are Ahl al-Sunna wa-l-Jama‘a; may we give our daughter in marriage into a group that holds the beliefs of the Mawdudi Jamaat, or not?

Answer

The interpretations of Islam that Sayyid Abul A‘la Mawdudi has given in a new style deviate from the way of the generality of Ahl al-Sunna wa-l-Jama‘a. Thus he has a small book entitled “Qur’an ki Char Bunyadi Istilahen” (“Four Fundamental Terms of the Qur’an”)
