Reducing the Price When the Sold Item Is Returned

Question

Question: If someone sold Zayd some item, and Zayd returns it after a month or fifteen days, and the seller, while taking it back, keeps some money from him on account of a decrease — is it right to take money in this way?

Answer

In a return, doing so is not correct; however, if an independent contract of sale is concluded, then reducing the price is correct.
