Giving Food on the Occasion of a Death
Question
When someone passes away, it is the custom to send to the mosque food [reckoned as] his share of sustenance. Is this correct?
Answer
After death the question of his sustenance has ended; whatever he has left behind is the estate (tarika), which is the right of the heirs. Whatever reward the adult heirs convey [to him] according to their means in a manner sanctioned by the Sacred Law is useful and beneficial.
