Expiation for an oath

Question

Question: I, a woman, am the unfortunate widow of the late Abdush-Shakur. Three small children and one grown-up married daughter are with me. By working as a labourer I support my children with the greatest difficulty. One of my daughters is grown up; her name is Anisa Banu. About five years have passed since her marriage, which was contracted with Badal Shafi‘ in Hindaun City. I do not know for what reason, but for a year now they have not come to take my daughter.

Answer

If he does not take her only because of having sworn, while in his heart there is room for her and he wants to keep her, then there are two ways. The first is that you yourself or someone else take the girl to his house — this will not break the oath. The second is that he takes the girl and then pays the expiation for the oath.
