الْحَلَالُ بَيِّنٌ وَالْحَرَامُ بَيِّنٌ، وَبَيْنَهُمَا مُشَبَّهَاتٌ لَا يَعْلَمُهَا كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ، فَمَنِ اتَّقَى الْمُشَبَّهَاتِ اسْتَبْرَأَ لِدِينِهِ وَعِرْضِهِ

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The lawful is clear and the unlawful is clear, and between them are doubtful matters that many people do not know. Whoever guards against the doubtful matters protects his religion and his honor.”

Description

Red Eucheuma seaweeds treated with potassium hydroxide solution without dissolution or precipitation, washed, bleached and dried. Possible links: admixture of aquatic non-fish in the seaweed (not confirmed); optional washing with isopropanol, methanol or ethanol of unnamed raw material; activated carbon in one patent.

Basis of the ruling

Processed eucheuma seaweed is red seaweed treated with potassium hydroxide solution without dissolving it, then washed, bleached and dried. Washing with alcohol is optional; ethanol of unnamed source is permitted for it.
