Surah Al-Buruj (البروج)
The Mansions of the Stars · Meccan · 22 ayahs · Juz 30
- 85:1
وَٱلسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ ٱلْبُرُوجِ
By (the oath of) the sky filled with stars (the 12 constellations)!
- 85:2
وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْمَوْعُودِ
By the promised day (the Day of Qiyaamah)!
- 85:3
وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
By the day which presents itself (to people as they remain where they are, namely Friday) and the day when people are presented (to the plain of Arafaat, namely the day of Arafaat the 9th of Dhul Hijjah)!
- 85:4
قُتِلَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ
(Referring to a nation of Kuffaar who killed many Mu'mineen because they accepted Imaan at the hands of a youngster, Allaah says,) Accursed (slain) are the people of the trenches (who dug trenches)...
- 85:5
ٱلنَّارِ ذَاتِ ٱلْوَقُودِ
...those of the heavily fuelled fire (who lit fires in the trenches to burn the Mu'mineen alive)...
- 85:6
إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
...when they sat by the trenches...
- 85:7
وَهُمْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
...and were witnesses to (saw with their own eyes) what (atrocities) they (the king and His councillors) did to the Mu'mineen.
