The Holy Quran 7:85 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا ۗ قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥ ۖ قَدْ جَآءَتْكُم بَيِّنَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ فَأَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تُفْسِدُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلَـٰحِهَا ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Translation

To Madyan We sent their brother Shu'ayb (as a prophet who was "Khateebul Ambiyaa" an orator Prophet). He said, "O my people! Worship only Allaah. There is no Ilaah for you besides Him." An Aayah (miracle) has already come to you from your Rabb (to prove that I am Allaah's Prophet), so (obey my message to you from Allaah to) give full weight and full measure (when you trade). Do not decrease the things of people (by weighing or measuring less and still charging the full price) and do not spread corruption (piracy and robbery) on earth after it has been set in order. This is best for you if you are Mu'mineen."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولقد أرسلنا إلى قبيلة «مدين» أخاهم شعيبًا عليه السلام، فقال لهم: يا قوم اعبدوا الله وحده لا شريك له; ليس لكم مِن إله يستحق العبادة غيره جل وعلا فأخلصوا له العبادة، قد جاءكم برهان من ربكم على صِدْق ما أدعوكم إليه، فأدوا للناس حقوقهم بإيفاء الكيل، الميزان، ولا تنقصوهم حقوقهم فتظلموهم، ولا تفسدوا في الأرض -بالكفر والظلم- بعد إصلاحها بشرائع الأنبياء السابقين…
