The Holy Quran 7:100 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لِلَّذِينَ يَرِثُونَ ٱلْأَرْضَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَهْلِهَآ أَن لَّوْ نَشَآءُ أَصَبْنَـٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْ ۚ وَنَطْبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ

Translation

Did it (the incidents of the past destroyed nations) not inform those who inherited (lived on) the earth after them that if We wish We could destroy them (as well) because of their (evil) actions? (However,) We have sealed their hearts so they do not hear (any incident with the intention of learning a lesson).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

أوَ لم يتبين للذين سكنوا الأرض من بعد إهلاك أهلها السابقين بسبب معاصيهم، فساروا سيرتهم، أن لو نشاء أصبناهم بسبب ذنوبهم كما فعلنا بأسلافهم، ونختم على قلوبهم، فلا يدخلها الحق، ولا يسمعون موعظة ولا تذكيرًا؟
