The Holy Quran 7:101 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

تِلْكَ ٱلْقُرَىٰ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنۢبَآئِهَا ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَمَا كَانُوا۟ لِيُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِمَا كَذَّبُوا۟ مِن قَبْلُ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

Translation

These were the towns (villages and localities), the stories of which We have narrated to you. Undoubtedly, their Rusul came to them with clear signs (miracles to prove that they were Allaah's messengers) but they were unlikely to believe in the things that they had rejected previously. In this manner does Allaah place a seal on the hearts of the Kaafiroon (so that they are unable to accept the truth because of their evil ways).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

تلك القرى التي تَقَدَّم ذِكْرُها، وهي قرى قوم نوح وهود وصالح ولوط وشعيب، نقصُّ عليك -أيها الرسول- من أخبارها، وما كان من أَمْر رسل الله التي أرسلت إليهم، ما يحصل به عبرة للمعتبرين وازدجار للظالمين. ولقد جاءت أهلَ القرى رسلنا بالحجج البينات على صدقهم، فما كانوا ليؤمنوا بما جاءتهم به الرسل; بسبب طغيانهم وتكذيبهم بالحق، ومثل خَتْمِ الله على قلوب هؤلاء الكافرين…
