The Holy Quran 5:66 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ أَقَامُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِم مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ لَأَكَلُوا۟ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِم ۚ مِّنْهُمْ أُمَّةٌ مُّقْتَصِدَةٌ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ سَآءَ مَا يَعْمَلُونَ

Translation

If only they would establish the (laws of the) Torah, the Injeel and whatever has been revealed to them from their Rabb, they would eat from above them and from beneath their feet (they will receive an abundance of sustenance). Among them (the Ahlul Kitaab) are those (like Najashi) on the straight path (those who have accepted Islaam), while many of them carry out evil acts.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولو أنَّهم عملوا بما في التوراة والإنجيل، وبما أُنْزِل عليك أيها الرسول -وهو القرآن الكريم- لرُزِقوا من كلِّ سبيلٍ، فأنزلنا عليهم المطر، وأنبتنا لهم الثمر، وهذا جزاء الدنيا. وإنَّ مِن أهل الكتاب فريقًا معتدلا ثابتًا على الحق، وكثير منهم ساء عملُه، وضل عن سواء السبيل.
