The Holy Quran 5:33 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

إِنَّمَا جَزَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَارِبُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا أَن يُقَتَّلُوٓا۟ أَوْ يُصَلَّبُوٓا۟ أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُم مِّنْ خِلَـٰفٍ أَوْ يُنفَوْا۟ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْىٌ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

Translation

The only punishment for those who make war with (people who believe in) Allaah and who strive to spread corruption on earth (by robbing, murdering, criminal conspiracies, misleading propaganda) is that they be killed (if they killed others) or crucified (if they killed others and robbed them as well), or their hands and feet cut off from opposite sides (rights hands and left feet if they robbed people without killing anyone), or that they be exiled from the land (if they terrorised people without killing or robbing anyone). Such shall be their humiliation in this world and in the Aakhirah they shall have a terrible punishment...

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إنما جزاء الذين يحاربون الله، ويبارزونه بالعداوة، ويعتدون على أحكامه، وعلى أحكام رسوله، ويفسدون في الأرض بقتل الأنفس، وسلب الأموال، أن يُقَتَّلوا، أو يُصَلَّبوا مع القتل (والصلب: أن يُشَدَّ الجاني على خشبة)
