The Holy Quran 5:34 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَقْدِرُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Translation

...except those who repent before you overpower (arrest) them (they will not be punished in the Aakhirah if their repentance is sincere and if they redress the wrong they may have done to others). Know that Allaah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

لكن مَن أتى من المحاربين من قبل أن تقدروا عليهم وجاء طائعًا نادمًا فإنه يسقط عنه ما كان لله، فاعلموا -أيها المؤمنون- أن الله غفور لعباده، رحيم بهم.
