The Holy Quran 5:22 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّ فِيهَا قَوْمًا جَبَّارِينَ وَإِنَّا لَن نَّدْخُلَهَا حَتَّىٰ يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَا فَإِن يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّا دَٰخِلُونَ

Translation

(Too cowardly to advance) They (the Jews) said, "O Moosa! Honestly, an extremely powerful nation live there. We shall certainly never enter it (the city) until they leave. If they leave the land, only then shall we enter."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قالوا: يا موسى، إن فيها قومًا أشداء أقوياء، لا طاقة لنا بحربهم، وإنَّا لن نستطيع دخولها وهم فيها، فإن يخرجوا منها فإنَّا داخلون.
