The Holy Quran 5:17 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۚ قُلْ فَمَن يَمْلِكُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا إِنْ أَرَادَ أَن يُهْلِكَ ٱلْمَسِيحَ ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ۗ وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Translation

Indeed those people have committed kufr who say that Allaah certainly is Maseeh the son of Maryam (Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام). Say "If Allaah wishes to destroy Maseeh the son of Maryam, his mother and all (life) on earth, who will be able to offer them any protection from Allaah?" (None can offer any protection from Allaah. It is therefore clear that Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام cannot be a god as some Christians claim because if he were, he would have been able to protect at least himself and his mother from destruction.) To Allaah belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. He creates what He wills (He created Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام without a father, Hawwa without a mother and Aadam without father and mother). Allaah has power over all things (and everything is powerless before Him).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

لقد كفر النصارى القائلون بأن الله هو المسيح بن مريم، قل -أيها الرسول- لهؤلاء الجهلة من النصارى: لو كان المسيح إلهًا كما يدَّعون لقَدرَ أن يدفع قضاء الله إذا جاءه بإهلاكه وإهلاك أُمِّه ومَن في الأرض جميعًا، وقد ماتت أم عيسى فلم يدفع عنها الموت، كذلك لا يستطيع أن يدفع عن نفسه; لأنهما عبدان من عباد الله لا يقدران على دفع الهلاك عنهما، فهذا دليلٌ على أنه بشر…
