The Holy Quran 4:171 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَا تَغْلُوا۟ فِى دِينِكُمْ وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ إِلَّا ٱلْحَقَّ ۚ إِنَّمَا ٱلْمَسِيحُ عِيسَى ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ وَكَلِمَتُهُۥٓ أَلْقَىٰهَآ إِلَىٰ مَرْيَمَ وَرُوحٌ مِّنْهُ ۖ فَـَٔامِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَرُسُلِهِۦ ۖ وَلَا تَقُولُوا۟ ثَلَـٰثَةٌ ۚ ٱنتَهُوا۟ خَيْرًا لَّكُمْ ۚ إِنَّمَا ٱللَّهُ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۖ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥٓ أَن يَكُونَ لَهُۥ وَلَدٌ ۘ لَّهُۥ مَا فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ وَكَفَىٰ بِٱللَّهِ وَكِيلًا

Translation

O People of the Book! Do not commit excesses in your religion and speak only the truth about Allaah. The Maseeh Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام the son of Maryam was but the Rasool of Allaah, His word (the word "Be!" that Allaah used to create him) that He cast (on) to Maryam and a spirit (soul) from Him (a soul created by Him). So believe in Allaah and His Rusul and do not say, "Three" (do not say that there are three gods according to the belief of Trinity). It will be best for you to desist (from such beliefs). Allaah is The only One Ilaah. He is Pure from having children. To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is in the earth (There is therefore no need for another Ilaah). Allaah is enough as a Defender (Protector).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يا أهل الإنجيل لا تتجاوزوا الاعتقاد الحق في دينكم، ولا تقولوا على الله إلا الحق، فلا تجعلوا له صاحبةً ولا ولدًا. إنما المسيح عيسى ابن مريم رسول الله أرسله الله بالحق، وخَلَقَه بالكلمة التي أرسل بها جبريل إلى مريم، وهي قوله: «كن»
