The Holy Quran 4:142 — Surah An-Nisa

إِنَّ ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ يُخَـٰدِعُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَهُوَ خَـٰدِعُهُمْ وَإِذَا قَامُوٓا۟ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ قَامُوا۟ كُسَالَىٰ يُرَآءُونَ ٱلنَّاسَ وَلَا يَذْكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

Translation

Indeed the hypocrites (try to) deceive Allaah (by pretending to be Muslims) whereas He deceives them (by allowing them to maintain their identities as Muslims and then exposing them and punishing them in the Aakhirah). When they stand up for salaah, they stand up lazily (reluctantly), (they perform salaah only) to show people and they remember Allaah only a little (they perform salaah very infrequently).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إنَّ طريقة هؤلاء المنافقين مخادعة الله تعالى، بما يظهرونه من الإيمان وما يبطنونه من الكفر، ظنًّا أنه يخفى على الله، والحال أن الله خادعهم ومجازيهم بمثل عملهم، وإذا قام هؤلاء المنافقون لأداء الصلاة، قاموا إليها في فتور، يقصدون بصلاتهم الرياء والسمعة، ولا يذكرون الله تعالى إلا ذكرًا قليلا.
