The Holy Quran 49:7 — Surah Al-Hujurat

Arabic text

وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ رَسُولَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ لَوْ يُطِيعُكُمْ فِى كَثِيرٍ مِّنَ ٱلْأَمْرِ لَعَنِتُّمْ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱللَّهَ حَبَّبَ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلْإِيمَـٰنَ وَزَيَّنَهُۥ فِى قُلُوبِكُمْ وَكَرَّهَ إِلَيْكُمُ ٱلْكُفْرَ وَٱلْفُسُوقَ وَٱلْعِصْيَانَ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلرَّٰشِدُونَ

Translation

(Addressing the Sahabah رضي الله تعالى عنهم, Allaah says,) Know well that the Rasool of Allaah is in your midst (referring to the time when he lived with them). There are many matters which you would place you in difficulty if he (the Rasool ﷺ) were to obey you (for the Rasool ﷺ acts on the orders of Allaah) people concerning them. However, Allaah has made Imaan beloved to you, has made it beautiful within your hearts and has made kufr, sin and disobedience abhorrent (extremely disgusting) to you. Such people (with these qualities) are rightly guided.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

واعلموا أن بين أظهركم رسولَ الله فتأدبوا معه؛ فإنه أعلم منكم بما يصلح لكم، يريد بكم الخير، وقد تريدون لأنفسكم من الشر والمضرة ما لا يوافقكم الرسول عليه، لو يطيعكم في كثير من الأمر مما تختارونه لأدى ذلك إلى مشقتكم، ولكن الله حبب إليكم الإيمان وحسَّنه في قلوبكم، فآمنتم، وكرَّه إليكم الكفرَ بالله والخروجَ عن طاعته، ومعصيتَه، أولئك المتصفون بهذه الصفات هم…
