The Holy Quran 49:5 — Surah Al-Hujurat

Arabic text

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ صَبَرُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ تَخْرُجَ إِلَيْهِمْ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا لَّهُمْ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Translation

If (instead of shouting for you) they had exercised patience until you came out to (meet) them, it would have been best for them (because they would then not have been guilty of invading the privacy of Allaah's Rasool). (However,) Allaah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful (and will forgive them if they sincerely repent).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولو أنهم صبروا حتى تخرج إليهم لكان خيرًا لهم عند الله; لأن الله قد أمرهم بتوقيرك، والله غفور لما صدر عنهم جهلا منهم من الذنوب والإخلال بالآداب، رحيم بهم حيث لم يعاجلهم بالعقوبة.
