The Holy Quran 46:35 — Surah Al-Ahqaf

Arabic text

فَٱصْبِرْ كَمَا صَبَرَ أُو۟لُوا۟ ٱلْعَزْمِ مِنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ وَلَا تَسْتَعْجِل لَّهُمْ ۚ كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ مَا يُوعَدُونَ لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ إِلَّا سَاعَةً مِّن نَّهَارٍۭ ۚ بَلَـٰغٌ ۚ فَهَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا ٱلْقَوْمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ

Translation

(O Rasulullaah ﷺ! Regardless of the difficulties the Kuffaar give you, you should) Exercise patience like the resolute ones among the Rusul exercised patience and do not be hasty about them (asking for them to be punished). The day when they will be shown what (punishment) they had been promised, it will seem to them that they had not even lived a moment of a single day. This (Qur'aan) is a message (so accept it and obey its commands). It will be only the disobedient nation who will be destroyed.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

فاصبر -أيها الرسول- على ما أصابك مِن أذى قومك المكذبين لك، كما صبر أولو العزم من الرسل من قبلك -وهم، على المشهور: نوح وإبراهيم وموسى وعيسى وأنت منهم- ولا تستعجل لقومك العذاب; فحين يقع ويرونه كأنهم لم يمكثوا في الدنيا إلا ساعة من نهار، هذا بلاغ لهم ولغيرهم. ولا يُهْلَكُ بعذاب الله إلا القوم الخارجون عن أمره وطاعته.
