The Holy Quran 42:23 — Surah Ash-Shuraa

Arabic text

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِى يُبَشِّرُ ٱللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ ۗ قُل لَّآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْرًا إِلَّا ٱلْمَوَدَّةَ فِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ ۗ وَمَن يَقْتَرِفْ حَسَنَةً نَّزِدْ لَهُۥ فِيهَا حُسْنًا ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ شَكُورٌ

Translation

This (news of entry into Jannah) is the good news (glad tidings) that Allaah conveys (gives) to those bondsmen of His who have Imaan and who do good deeds. (O Rasulullaah ﷺ!) Say (to the Mushrikeen of Makkah), "I ask of you no repayment (for conveying to you the message of Towheed), except (all that I ask for is) the (usual and traditional) love between relatives (that you ought to show to me regardless of what message I carry to you)." As for the one who carries out a good deed, We will increase the beauty (virtue) of the deed (by granting a reward for it that is far superior to the deed itself), for Allaah is surely the Most Forgiving, the Appreciative (The Ever Thankful).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ذلك الذي أخبرتكم به -أيها الناس- من النعيم والكرامة في الآخرة هو البشرى التي يبشر الله بها عباده الذين آمنوا به في الدنيا وأطاعوه. قل -أيها الرسول- للذين يشكون في الساعة من مشركي قومك: لا أسألكم على ما أدعوكم إليه من الحق الذي جئتكم به عوضًا من أموالكم، إلا أن تَوَدُّوني في قرابتي منكم، وتَصِلوا الرحم التي بيني وبينكم. ومن يكتسب حسنة نضاعفها له بعشر فصاعدًا.
