The Holy Quran 42:13 — Surah Ash-Shuraa

Arabic text

۞ شَرَعَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلدِّينِ مَا وَصَّىٰ بِهِۦ نُوحًا وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ وَمَا وَصَّيْنَا بِهِۦٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ وَعِيسَىٰٓ ۖ أَنْ أَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلدِّينَ وَلَا تَتَفَرَّقُوا۟ فِيهِ ۚ كَبُرَ عَلَى ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ ۚ ٱللَّهُ يَجْتَبِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَهْدِىٓ إِلَيْهِ مَن يُنِيبُ

Translation

Allaah has ordained (fixed, determined) for you the same Deen that He ordained for Nooh عليه الصلاة والسلام, as well as what He ordained (prescribed) for Ibraheem عليه الصلاة والسلام, Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام and Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام. (We commanded these Ambiyaa and their followers, saying,) "Establish the Deen and do not be divided". That (Towheed) towards which you call the Mushrikeen is heavy (difficult) on them (because they are set in their ways of worshipping many gods). Allaah draws whoever He wills towards Himself, and guides towards Himself the one who is penitent (the one who repents for his sins because such a person shows the willingness to be close to Him).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

شرع الله لكم -أيها الناس- من الدِّين الذي أوحيناه إليك -أيها الرسول، وهو الإسلام- ما وصَّى به نوحًا أن يعمله ويبلغه، وما وصينا به إبراهيم وموسى وعيسى -هؤلاء الخمسة هم أولو العزم من الرسل على المشهور- أن أقيموا الدين بالتوحيد وطاعة الله وعبادته دون مَن سواه، ولا تختلفوا في الدين الذي أمرتكم به، عَظُمَ على المشركين ما تدعوهم إليه من توحيد الله وإخلاص العبادة…
