The Holy Quran 29:39 — Surah Al-'Ankabut

Arabic text

وَقَـٰرُونَ وَفِرْعَوْنَ وَهَـٰمَـٰنَ ۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَهُم مُّوسَىٰ بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا كَانُوا۟ سَـٰبِقِينَ

Translation

And (We also destroyed) Qaaroon, Fir'oun and Haamaan. Without doubt, Moosa came to them with clear signs (miracles and proofs of Towheed), but they were arrogant (waxed proud) on earth (and refused to accept what he told them). (However, despite all their resources and wealth), They could still not escape (Our punishment).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وأهلكنا قارون وفرعون وهامان، ولقد جاءهم جميعًا موسى بالأدلة الواضحة، فتعاظموا في الأرض، واستكبروا فيها، ولم يكونوا ليفوتوننا، بل كنا مقتدرين عليهم.
