The Holy Quran 29:31 — Surah Al-'Ankabut

Arabic text

وَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ بِٱلْبُشْرَىٰ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا مُهْلِكُوٓا۟ أَهْلِ هَـٰذِهِ ٱلْقَرْيَةِ ۖ إِنَّ أَهْلَهَا كَانُوا۟ ظَـٰلِمِينَ

Translation

When Our messenger angels came to Ibraheem عليه الصلاة والسلام with the good news (that he was to father a son by the name of Is'haaq عليه الصلاة والسلام), they (also) said, "We are to destroy the inhabitants of this town (of Loot عليه الصلاة والسلام). Its inhabitants are certainly oppressors (terrible sinners)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولما جاءت الملائكة إبراهيم بالخبر السارِّ من الله بإسحاق، ومن وراء إسحاق ولده يعقوب، قالت الملائكة لإبراهيم: إنا مهلكو أهل قرية قوم لوط، وهي «سدوم» ; إنَّ أهلها كانوا ظالمي أنفسهم بمعصيتهم لله.
