The Holy Quran 29:3 — Surah Al-'Ankabut

Arabic text

وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ ۖ فَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا۟ وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّ ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ

Translation

We certainly tested those (Mu'mineen) before them, and (by putting people through tests) Allaah will definitely (make people) know those who are true (in their Imaan) and He will definitely (make people) know who the liars are (whose Imaan in not sincere).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولقد فتنَّا الذين من قبلهم من الأمم واختبرناهم، ممن أرسلنا إليهم رسلنا، فليعلمنَّ الله علمًا ظاهرًا للخلق صدق الصادقين في إيمانهم، وكذب الكاذبين؛ ليميز كلَّ فريق من الآخر.
