The Holy Quran 28:9 — Surah Al-Qasas

Arabic text

وَقَالَتِ ٱمْرَأَتُ فِرْعَوْنَ قُرَّتُ عَيْنٍ لِّى وَلَكَ ۖ لَا تَقْتُلُوهُ عَسَىٰٓ أَن يَنفَعَنَآ أَوْ نَتَّخِذَهُۥ وَلَدًا وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Translation

(When she saw the baby Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام in the basket.) Fir'oun's wife said (to Fir'oun), "(This child will be) A (great) coolness (delight) for my eyes and yours. Do not kill him. Perchance he may benefit us or we may adopt him as a son." (Consequently, Fir'oun acceded to her request. However), They had no knowledge (of the consequences of their act).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولمَّا شاهدته امرأة فرعون ألقى الله محبته في قلبها، وقالت لفرعون: هذا الطفل سيكون مصدر سرور لي ولك، لا تقتلوه; فقد نصيب منه خيرًا أو نتخذه ولدًا، وفرعون وآله لا يدركون أن هلاكهم على يديه.
