The Holy Quran 28:43 — Surah Al-Qasas

Arabic text

وَلَقَدْ ءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَآ أَهْلَكْنَا ٱلْقُرُونَ ٱلْأُولَىٰ بَصَآئِرَ لِلنَّاسِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لَّعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ

Translation

Verily, after We had destroyed the former generations (of Kuffaar such as the Aad, Thamud and others), We granted Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام the book (the Torah) as an eye-opener (insight) for people and as a (means of) guidance and mercy so that they may take heed (learn).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولقد آتينا موسى التوراة من بعد ما أهلكنا الأمم التي كانت من قبله -كقوم نوح وعاد وثمود وقوم لوط وأصحاب «مدين» - فيها بصائر لبني إسرائيل، يبصرون بها ما ينفعهم وما يضرهم، وفيها رحمة لمن عمل بها منهم; لعلهم يتذكرون نِعَم الله عليهم، فيشكروه عليها، ولا يكفروه.
