The Holy Quran 24:54 — Surah An-Nur

Arabic text

قُلْ أَطِيعُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا۟ ٱلرَّسُولَ ۖ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْهِ مَا حُمِّلَ وَعَلَيْكُم مَّا حُمِّلْتُمْ ۖ وَإِن تُطِيعُوهُ تَهْتَدُوا۟ ۚ وَمَا عَلَى ٱلرَّسُولِ إِلَّا ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ ٱلْمُبِينُ

Translation

Say, "Obey Allaah and obey the Rasool ﷺ." If they turn away, then the Rasool ﷺ is responsible only for what he has been entrusted with (passing on the message) and you people are responsible for what you have been entrusted with (for accepting the message). If you obey, you will be rightly guided. (This is the rule.) The Rasool ﷺ is responsible only for clear propagation.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قل - أيها الرسول - للناس: أطيعوا الله وأطيعوا الرسول، فإن تعرضوا فإنما على الرسول فِعْلُ ما أُمر به من تبليغ الرسالة، وعلى الجميع فِعْلُ ما كُلِّفوه من الامتثال، وإن تطيعوه ترشدوا إلى الحق، وليس على الرسول إلا أن يبلغ رسالة ربه بلاغًا بينًا.
