The Holy Quran 20:127 — Surah Taha

Arabic text

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِى مَنْ أَسْرَفَ وَلَمْ يُؤْمِنۢ بِـَٔايَـٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ ۚ وَلَعَذَابُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبْقَىٰٓ

Translation

Thus do We punish those who transgress (cross) the limits and do not believe in the Aayaat (signs) of their Rabb. The punishment of the Aakhirah is undoubtedly more severe and more lasting (than the punishment of this world which comes to an end with death and of initial blindness).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وهكذا نعاقب مَن أسرف على نفسه فعصى ربه، ولم يؤمن بآياته بعقوبات في الدنيا، ولَعذاب الآخرة المعدُّ لهم أشد ألمًا وأدوم وأثبت; لأنه لا ينقطع ولا ينقضي.
