The Holy Quran 17:25 — Surah Al-Isra

Arabic text

رَّبُّكُمْ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا فِى نُفُوسِكُمْ ۚ إِن تَكُونُوا۟ صَـٰلِحِينَ فَإِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِلْأَوَّٰبِينَ غَفُورًا

Translation

Your Rabb knows best what is in your (souls) hearts. (He knows your intentions when you care for your parents). If you are righteous (obedient to Allaah and your parents) then surely He is Most Forgiving to those who turn to Him (Allaah will forgive those who sincerely repent for their sins).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ربكم -أيها الناس- أعلم بما في ضمائركم من خير وشر. إن تكن إرادتكم ومقاصدكم مرضاة الله وما يقربكم إليه، فإنه كان -سبحانه- للراجعين إليه في جميع الأوقات غفورًا، فمَن عَلِمَ الله أنه ليس في قلبه إلا الإنابة إليه ومحبته، فإنه يعفو عنه، ويغفر له ما يعرض من صغائر الذنوب، مما هو من مقتضى الطبائع البشرية.
